A Contract Is Not the Same as a Guarantee of Recovery

A conventional purchase contract cannot completely eliminate counterparty insolvency risk. If the supplier becomes insolvent after receiving an advance payment, the buyer may have to pursue contractual or legal remedies while competing with other creditors.
